The School of Science and Engineering (SSE) at Reykjavík University is seeking applications for a full time academic position in Biomedical Engineering. The applicant should be capable and willing to build research in his field at SSE and to actively participate in the graduate program in Biomedical Engineering. Position level can range from assistant professor to full professor, depending on the qualifications of the applicant.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering or in a closely related engineering discipline. Applicants must be established members of the international research community and have demonstrated teaching excellence and have a genuine interest in both. Biomedical or biotechnological industry experience is appreciated. Independence, drive and strong interpersonal skills are considered very valuable.

Doktorsnemum við Háskólann í Reykjavík stendur til boða aðgangur að doktorsnámskeiðum á öðrum Norðurlöndum, þ.m.t. aðgangur að doktorsnámskeiðaröð lagadeildar Háskólans í Ósló.
 
Stöður þær, sem lausar eru til umsóknar, eru innan eftirtalinna rannsóknasviða:
Skaðabótaréttar (bótaréttar), almannatryggingaréttar, vátryggingaréttar, sjóréttar, stjórnsýsluréttar,stjórnskipunarréttar, réttarsögu, alþjóðlegra mannréttinda og Evrópuréttar. Á grundvelli samstarfssamnings við lagadeild Háskólans í Ósló getur lagadeild HR einnig boðið aðstöðu til doktorsnáms á öðrum rannsóknasviðum.

In addition to teaching and research duties, the candidate will be responsible for leading the development of a masters’ program in sports science and developing its research activities. A postdoctoral position in simulation of particles in buoyant turbulent flows is available at Reykjavik University in collaboration with Eindhoven University of Technology.
 
Particles dispersion in turbulent flows is key to many technological and safety applications. From aerosols dispersion in the atmosphere, rain formation in clouds, to industrial applications. The dispersion of particles in (turbulent) flow is affected by particle properties as well as by the flow statistics. In recent years many investigations focused on the experimental and numerical study of particles dispersion in the simplest flows instances and for simple, sometimes idealized particle properties.
 
In the present project we aim at making a concrete steps towards the study of particles dynamics in turbulent flows which are affected by buoyancy, like for example in presence of thermal convection or density stratification. The investigation will be performed by means of state-of-the-art numerical tools, including pseudo-spectral and Lattice Boltzmann codes. The project will involves code development and optimization, data processing and modeling.  Comparison with experimental data, stemming from the turbulence laboratory at Reykjavik University, is also expected.
 
We look for highly motivated candidates in possess of a PhD in Engineering, Physics or related fields with a focus on fluid dynamics. Previous experience with numerical methods for turbulent flows is required.
