The Robot Interaction Lab at Reykjavik University has an opening for a postdoctoral researcher for a two-year position, in the field of computer vision and robotics. The successful candidate will collaborate on efforts to develop computer vision methods to automatically pick and pack grocery items with minimal manual registration requirement.
The work is done in collaboration with industrial partners in Stavanger (Norway) and Reykjavik, the University of Stavanger, and Eindhoven University of Technology (Netherlands). The job duties for this position are primarily the development and experimental validation of an appropriate computer vision and machine learning methodology.
Qualifications: We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with good communication skills to join our research team. The candidate should be able to work independently, collaborate with other researchers, and co-supervise students in the area of research, and be willing and able to travel to meet and work with international collaborators. Excellent command of spoken and written English is obligatory.
A Ph.D. degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields, with a good publication record, is required. The research makes extensive use of machine learning techniques. A sound knowledge and understanding of computer vision, machine learning, and robotics is required, as well as proficiency in programming (C++, Python, ROS).
Full-time temporary employment.
